While some amount of warp is to be expected on these carburetors simply due to their design, some carburetors are far more damaged than others. When warpage is minimal, usually no corrective steps are necessary, but in severe cases, the top casting & main body will require straightening to ensure correct carburetor function. Depending on the severity of the warp, repair costs will start at $50.00 (for both castings) and go from there. Please note that it is nearly impossible to resolve 100{e8a31ad70eb76b9d1736af28c4c10c5ce60babf18dd7728d2fa05ac44ba5f2cd} of the warp, so some slight warp may remain after repairs, but it will be within acceptable limits to ensure proper carburetor function. To avoid further damage upon re-installation, please avoid over-tightening your carburetor mounting fasteners. The recommended torque value for a typical 5/16″ carb mounting fastener is 60-80 inch/lbs, or roughly 5-6 ft.lbs.

Repairing cracked Holley throttle bodies (“base plates”):
For years, people have been welding these baseplates to get them back into service. However, this repair isn’t without its drawbacks. While it usually serves well from a functional standpoint, it often sorely lacks in regards to aesthetics. The main culprit here is the fact that the aluminum used to cast these bases was never of very high quality, and due to the impurities in the metal, it makes them very difficult to weld without leaving behind a giant blob of filler, or even some potentially troublesome porosity issues. As a result, after much trial & error, I have developed a proprietary method of repairing cracked Holley baseplates which does not involve welding. The repair has been tested far beyond normal stresses and has yet to fail in service. Please note that there will be a visible parting line where the flaw was present, but this can easily be remedied with a little silver epoxy paint on a modelers paint brush.

Note that I WILL NOT perform this repair w/o the customers prior knowledge and formal approval, preferably via email. Also note that depending on where the baseplate is damaged, there are some bases I will not be able to repair; I can not repair anything that has been cracked through a throttle bore, and I can not repair anything that is missing a broken section. The typical cost to repair a cracked base starts at $75.00 and goes from there, depending on the amount of time it takes to set up the repairs.
